A striking and very unsettling bit of news. Lusynda realized that the entire quest may have been a trick to keep her away from her villages. Feral treachery?

If Ba 'thet lied to her...why was she pleading for the Hares to teach her Ferals war arts? I think this Little chick Lusynda just found might be the one doing the lying.

That could very well be...perhaps she is lying to Lusynda because of a grudge she has against the Ferals who killed her kith and kin? Maybe she hopes that Lusynda will escape and convince the Hares to all-out war with the Ferals.
Maybe Ba'Thet hoped that she and a select few of her tribe could learn enough before the Hare tribe caught on to the deception? Or it was all a ruse to distract her until the soldiers arrived? Still, that doesn't explain the killing of those hunters.
A lot of unanswered questions for Ba'Thet to answer and for Lusynda to find out.

I think anything Ba'thet had said could have been a lie of omission. It wouldn't surprise me that Ba'thet is only queen of her own nation/tribe, and that there are of course other nation-tribes of ferals. Including the group operating under this Shadow Queen.

And what does the tattoo on her back say? Is it a slave mark or something she got in her village?

That is certainly possible. Ba'Thet's authority may have eroded with the famine and fighting. The Ferals are all under one tribe, but there is certainly more than one kind of Feral. Ba'Thet considers herself queen over ALL because nobody has dared challenge her and her supporters. But communication between other Feral races is often poor and many things can happen before word gets out.
Those markings on her back were given to her at her village, and they are more than just tattoos.

Right. I could call myself Emperor Norton II, but that would mean didly to my "citizens".
